Gone are the days where people born of mixed heritage were looked down upon as 'mababi'. Society has fully embraced them.

The irony of it is that most of them are more fluent in Swahili and the local language eg Kikuyu, Kamba or Dholuo unlike foreign languages.

Below are some of the celebs who are of mixed race.

Margaret Kenyatta

Kenyatta was born to a Kenyan father, Njuguna Gakuo, a former Director of the Kenya Railways Corporation, and a German mother, Magdalena.

Wandia Gichuru

Wandia Gichuru who is the Co-Founder and CEO of Vivo Activewear, a retail clothing business was born in Montreal, Canada.

She was born to a Canadian mother and a Kenyan father.

Grace Ekirapa

The soft spoken damsel is partly Indian,Teso and Maasai.

Bridget Shigadi

Known for her role as Sofia in the local show Maria Bridget is quarter Italian based on the fact that Bridget Shighadi's parents are of Italian and Kenyan descent.

Julie Gichuru

iJulie a mother of five is of mixed origin with her father being an Indian and mother a Kikuyu from the Kiambu region.

Betty Kyallo

Betty is born to a Kamba mother and Luhya father.

Olive Burrow

Burrow who is a TV presenter was born into the family of a Kenyan father and a Kamba mother.

Her father hails from a mixed background, father (British) while the mother (Tanzanian).
