Ever wondered how Kenyan celebrity moms celebrate their birthdays? Well, some of them do it the best way possible. This is exactly what Citizen TV's Janet Mbugua did for her mum on her birthday.

Her childhood friends, her cousin, her nieces and her sister-in-law are among the people who graced the occasion. "It was a beautiful sight…heartwarming, really. My folks have had an intense year and it was great to see them laugh out loud and relax for the night," she revealed.

The event went down on 14th August, at Mediterraneo Ristorante at the Junction Mall. Her mother was celebrating her 60th birthday. One of the notable attendees was TV personality Edith Kimani.

"As the festivities kicked into high gear, people toasting and conversations flowing, the noise around me drowned out and I found myself trying to imagine myself at sixty. I watched my parents, who I’ve grown very close to. Their wisdom, love and generosity is unsurpassed," Janet added.

Janet's most recent achievement is being named among the Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya to watch. She featured alongside other successful, talented and inspiring young women. The list features engineers, media personalities, a musician, a makeup artist and other stellar people.

"Will I be surrounded by all this love? Will my children throw me a surprise party and call all the people closest to me to join in the celebrations? Will I have gotten to a point where I’m sure of myself, not living life with any inhibitions?," she pondered.

Now, that's how a Kenyan celebrity - and you yourself - should be treating your family during a birthday.
