Their numbers would make you think that they wouldn't be as popular as they are. Everything socialites do or say makes news; long, winded articles are written, they are invited on Television shows, the works. Here are reasons why socialites succeed so much in Kenya.

1. Kenyans Are An Idle Lot

I know I have said this before and I'll keep saying it over and over again. For socialites to succeed, they need an active thriving audience. Just look at any socialite's Instagram, there is a whole melee of Kenyans struggling to get their attention. These idle Kenyans with their beyond hilarious comments provide the perfect ground for socialites to thrive.

2. Kenyans are Gossipers.

Walk by any two Kenyans talking and there is a seventy percent chance they are talking about someone else. Kenyans live for gossip. Why else do you think gossip blogs attract droves of viewers? Socialites provide the perfect fodder for gossip. They fuel matatu conversations, 'at the local' conversations even conversations in our homes."Uliona weave ya Vera" et.al

Socialites are only popular because we like what they have to show us. If no one liked their photos or commented and if no one talked about them, they wouldn't even exist. We are a socialite nation and the way things are looking, we will be for a long, long time to come.
