You think this is a joke? Think again! A new study has revealed that more than half of Kenyan women lost their virginity before hitting 18 years. The ‘Voices’ study by Consumer Insight indicate that 51 per cent of our females had their nunu explored by boys and, or, men, while still in their teenage years.
Only two per cent of Kenyan women feel the ideal age for one’s first sexual experience should be 30 years and above. A different report had earlier reported that a big number of teenagers in Kenyan slums are having sex with a whooping 39 per cent on contraceptives.
The recent study was conducted in the last quarter of 2015 with 1,339 Kenyan women as respondents who were 18 years and above. It was done in Nairobi, Nyeri, Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret.
The survey shows that three out of 10 women, believe the ideal age for your first sexual experience is between 18-20 years. Another 25 per cent feel it should be between 21-23 years, while 28 per cent say between 24-26 years.
Three out of 10 said they had sex for the first time when they were between the age of 18-20, while only one per cent said it was between 27-29 years of age.
