Gospel singer Pitson has been advised to keep off singing for the next few months after his voice developed complications.

According to the 'Lingala Ya Yesu' hitmaker, doctors advised he should not sing for the next couple of months.

"I went to see a doctor after I was unable to sing and they said I am not going to sing for the next two months because my voice is damaged," he said.

Doctors said he has been overworking his throat, which caused the damage.

Speaking to Word Is on Friday, the singer said he has to drink a lot of water as well as having to rest alot.

He owns a sound company called Pitsounds. His livelihood depends on his music.

"It is really difficult for me because singing is what I do for a living, and staying away from the studio sounds very boring to me."

Before he was advised not to sing, Pitson had recorded a song that he will be releasing in the middle of August.

"'Turudishie ' is a song seeking God to redeem the gospel industry, as most of us have left God and it is time to come back to him," he said.

Voice damage is a serious problem affecting musicians.

Ommy Dimpoz has in the past suffered from voice damage and the experience was traumatizing.

"One day I woke up and I have no voice, I went to the doctor and he told me that one of my Vocal code was paralysed.

To make it worse the doctor said that the vocal code could fail completely or come back. I was very frustrated.

I could not sing. When I asked the doctor he said that I could have been poisoned.

It has been the most difficult season of my life because of the many surgeries i had to go through. However, I thank God for the healing and the fans who were there for me.” he said.

Nigerian artiste Tekno also temporarily damaged his voice last year.

Tekno’s management Ubi Franklin released a statement on Instagram explaining the crooner’s situation.

He explained,

“His vocal box is temporarily damaged due to strain from overtime performances and cannot sing or perform for a while.

these past few months have been trying times for your favorite boy Tekno Miles.

He tried to downplay the severity of his ailment, but after several diagnoses, doctors have advised that he takes time out to fully recover.”
