Former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe seems to be enjoying life at the moment.
An Equity Bank business card going round on social media shows that Igathe will be among the bank’s top decision makers.
Polycarp is said to be heading Equity Bank as a Chief Commercial Officer, sources say. Speaking to the Star on phone on Tuesday, an insider in the banking industry said:
“What you have seen on the card … that’s it.”
The source declined to give more information on the matter. The Star Business team called Igathe using the Equitel number on the business card.
“Polycarp Igathe speaking,”
When questioned about his new position at Equity, it angered him and just before he hang up he said:
“I am a private citizen. I do not speak to the media,”
Before working as Nairobi’s Deputy Governor, Igathe was the Managing director at Vivo Energy. Polycarp Igathe said his goodbye to Nairobians via Twitter on January 31 when his resignation took effect.
“I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Administration and Management of the county. Without fear, favour or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far,”
He left and now Sonko is going through a hard time. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been ranked dead last in a performance ranking the three Kenyan cities; Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa. Sonko was a distant third, with a score of 44 percent giving him a D+ in the County Score Card.
