Kayamba Africa were one the performances that thrilled residents of Ichaweri in Gatundu at the traditional wedding of Uhuru Kenyatta’s first born son, Jomo.
The ceremony hosted a little over two years ago saw Fiona Achola Ngobi welcomed by her in laws into the Kenyatta family.
The traditional ceremony Itara refers to the Kikuyu traditional firewood storage in the kitchen and the ceremony is an assurance that the presence of firewood ensures the house will always have food and warmth and that their daughter is in safe hands.
Early this month, Achola and Jomo say their I-dos at a white wedding that was so hush hush some Kenyans had no idea it actually took place.
The lead singer of Kayamba Africa said it was a “great privilege!” to perform at the Itara.
Now, they are mourning the loss of one of their members, Shadrack Ndetto.
The group released a press statement.
It read: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our beloved member Shadrack Ndetto, we pray and for strength to the immediate family and friends , as we prepare for his final resting place we will keep all of our friends posted on the plans. RIP.”
