'It's so bad it affects my work' Kate Actress talks on battling anxiety disorder

Kenyan actress Kate Actress has talked about battling anxiety disorder, a mental health disorder characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety or fear.

The feelings are strong enough to interfere with one's daily activities.

Speaking about it on her You Tube channel, Kate shared

'I have anxiety disorder.

It's so bad as it affects my work. Am thinking about doing something but I keep pushing it and go behind work schedule as I can't do it.

Sadly when you explain it to someone people assume it's ugonjwa ya wazungu. Procrastination make people feel like you are lazy.

Sometimes I have to un-follow groups that I feel are giving me pressure because you feel like you are not doing enough.

It's good to take a break.'

Below are symptoms to look out for when suffering from anxiety disorder

  • irritability.
  • Restlessness.
  • Lack of concentration.
  • Racing thoughts, or unwanted thoughts.
  • Fatigue or sweating
  • Anxiety.
  • Excessive worry.
  • Fear, insomnia, nausea, palpitations, or trembling.
Treatment includes counselling or medication, including antidepressants.

  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Reduce caffeine intake.
  • Physical exercise.
  • Quitting smoking.
  • Relaxation technique.
  • Stress management and Healthy diet.
