Renowned media personality Julie Gichuru has had it with online fraudsters who spread false rumors about celebrities in a bid to get traffic.

In the recent past, we've seen reports that certain celebrities have passed away only for them to rubbish the lies later.

Just recently, musician Jaguar rubbished rumors of his death after a certain blog reported that he lost his life in a horrific accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Through an Instagram post, the former Citizen TV news anchor expressed her displeasure with these scammers after rumors spread like a wild fire that she "drunk herself silly and even peed on herself".

The tabloid that ran the story had used random photos from the internet and peddled the narrative that it was Julie Gichuru, landing her in trouble with a section of Kenyans.

She said something needed to be done to "contain the stupidity and irresponsibility" that is witnessed on social media.

"Just ask, is it OK for them to do it to you? How do we stop it before they get there? Even worse, are these the realities we are creating and enabling for our children? Let's talk about this," her post reads in part.

What is even more surprising is that the site used a fake Facebook account under the name of another Citizen TV news anchor to share the story on social media.

This is what she posted.
