Jowie was in court yesterday and the one thing on his agenda was to get the court to agree for him to get medical attention as soon as possible. Jowie has a gunshot wound on his left hand that is yet heal.
Jowie also told the court:
I am being tortured at Kamiti…
The Judge asked the prosecution to “investigate the claims”.
A Kenyan is saying he has been tortured. We should not debate. Go investigate.
Jowie was charged with the murder of business women Monicah Kimani at her posh apartment in Kilimani.
Monicah’s body was discovered by the brother, George Thiiru. She had her hands bound, throat slit and mouth tapped shut.
Jowie was denied bail by Justice James Wakiaga but he was given the go-ahead to receive treatment for his gunshot wound.
Jowie told the court,
I have also not been treated, because Government has pending bills to Kenyatta. I am willing to pay for my medication. I pray that I get admitted for surgery today.
According to a doctor’s report,
“Jowie is visibly in pain. His hand is wasting away. He is sick. Please treat it as an emergency.”
Justice Wakiaga ordered that Jowie gets treatment ASAP.
Jowie also withdrew an application seeking to disqualify Justice Wakiaga from his case. It was also accepted.
The application to have you recuse from the matter was made in a rush and we seek to withdraw the application and the letter annexed to it. We will be writing to JSC to have the same letter withdrawn
He had initially said Wakiaga shouldn’t hear his case because he has shown open bias and already assumed him guilty before evidence is tendered.
He took issue with a statement of the judge made during the bail ruling on October 30 referring to him as ‘male version of slay queen’ and a ‘woman eater’.
The remarks by the judge, he had said, injured his dignity and showed bias.
The application to have me recuse is withdrawn and the letter to the application addressed to the Judicial Service Commission to remove me as High Court judge annexed to the application has been expunged from the court records
