Jimwat has been a whisper in the minds of many fans in this country after his long and fraught hiatus away from the limelight. The musician has been on the comeback trail lately trying to resurrect a career that died a natural(?) death almost a decade ago.
But news revelations reveal that Jimwat may have been a bit hasty in the way he dealt with potential collaborators. This was exposed when he gave an interview to Citizen television.
King Kaka revealed in December, 2017 that the ‘Under 18’ hit-maker rejected his collabo bid when Jimwat was the bigger artiste of the two. The ‘Baadaye’ hit-maker said – in his song called ‘Angels’ – that Jimwat approached him for a collabo after he (King Kaka) became a household name in Kenya – a request which he rejected.
Well, Jimwat has responded to King Kaka. He said:
Mimi ni prince (There is no king who crowns himself. All kings ascend to such a powerful position as a result of people’s endorsement and blessings. It is true I denied you (King Kaka) a collabo, but you shouldn’t have gone public with such information. You ought to have approached me so that we address the issue at a personal level. And if a debate arises on who is king of Kenyan music, then I think Juacali deserves that title, with me as his prince).”
The Sitoi Kitu Kidogo hit-maker also revealed in the interview that he is a now a father of a baby girl. Shots fired and responded to. Will Kinga Kaka respond?
