Luhyas are great people. They are crazy or rather funny. They are known for various stereotypes such as being gluttonous; eat too much but work hard, watchmen, cooks, and are considered rough around the edges etc. All in all, they are some of the most wonderful being that make up this country.

Ooh and I forgot, they are also well known for their accents. Most of them have been affected by mother tongue influence.

The Luhya tribe is unique. From the way they live, to how they carry out their traditional practices they are different from the rest of the Kenya. The Luhya (also known as Abaluyia or Luyia) are a Bantu ethnic group in Kenya. They number about 5.3 million people, being about 16% of Kenya's total population of 38.5 million, and are the second-largest ethnic group in Kenya.

The seventeen tribes are the Bukusu (Ava-Bukusu), Idakho (Ava-Idakho), Isukha (Ava-Isukha), Kabras (Ava-Kabras), Khayo (Ava-Khayo), Kisa (Ava-Kisa), Marachi (Ava-Marachi), Maragoli (Ava-Logoli), Marama (Aba-Marama), Nyala (Ava-Nyala), Nyole (Aba-Nyole), Samia (Ava-Samia), Tachoni (Ava-Tachoni), Tiriki (Ava-Tiriki), Tsotso (Abatsotso), Wanga (Aba-Wanga), Batura (Abatura). They are closely related to the Masaba (or Gisu), whose language is mutually intelligible with Luhya. Each with a distinct dialect. The word Luhya or Luyia in some of the dialects means "clan", and Abaluhya (Abaluyia) thus means "people of the clan".

The Bukusu and the Maragoli are the two largest Luhya tribes.

A video of Luhya men and women dancing has surfaced online. They were at a funeral celebrating the life of a deceased person. And unlike many who grieve, remain silent during the funeral period and behave like their is no tomorrow, Luhya people are different. In the video that has gone viral women and men can be seen dancing vigorously -better than some of the so called video vixens.

Here is the video, watch Mulembe people showcase of their dancing skills.
