Last month, top TV personality Jeff Koinange was arrested and spent some time in a police cell. This is because Senior Resident Magistrate Maisy Chesang said that he found him hard to work with and ordered for his arrest.

The magistrate has now fined the media personality and Tony Gachoka 2 million shillings each or they serve a 6 month jail term after they were found guilty of contempt of court.

“I acknowledge submissions that Mr. Koinange is a difficult person to deal with and the explanations given for his failure to be in court are insufficient. In the circumstances, a fresh warrant of arrest is issued against him and his cash bail forfeited to the state,” the magistrate had said.

The two are in a dispute with businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Sani Mbui Wanjigi and Kwacha Group of Companies Limited. The businessman moved to court after Jeff and Gachoka discussed on TV a matter regarding Wanjigi's business despite a court order barring the same.
