Flamboyant businessman Jamal Roho Safi who is husband to Kenyan socialite Amber Ray, says he has known the damsel for more than five years.

Contrary to what people have been saying, the two were friends and would meet often before they took their relationship to the next level.

Speaking during an interview with Jalango, Jamal shared

'Amber Ray and I have known each other for 5 years.

We would meet every once in a while, After a year is when things happened and things reached where they are.'

Jamal added that being a Muslim he watched his grandfather manage his four wives peacefully and he hopes to emulate him.

This he has done by ensuring that his two wives live next to each other.

'My grandfather had four wives and had his house at the center and so I wanted to be like him.

I used to live in Karen and when my house was being renovated I decided to move to Syokimau.

The place was beautiful so I stuck there. I found Amber Ray living in Syokimau.

On how he was able to approach Amber Ray, he said

'I was a conductor so I know how to approach women.

Even back then I would approach women with class and who knew what they were doing.

I couldn't just approach anyone aende anisumbue baadaye.

I saw a lot of things in her, we sat down and made decisions between ourselves.

She was reluctant to stay in the same estate as she was afraid of ruining my marriage.

It was not easy to approach Amber Ray as she had never wanted to be a second wife.'

Their relationship was a secret until they were exposed by Edgar Obare. This made Jamal admit to his wife that he was having an extramarital affair.

I had to apologize to my wife after photos of myself and Amber Ray while in Coast/Mombasa went viral.

She is a very quiet person but when I told her that I was dating Amber Ray alipiga kelele as no woman wants to share her man.

She did not talk to me for a week. My family also intervened as they love her very much so it was a battle between me, her, and my family.
