Senior Resident magistrate Sinyikan Tobiko has directed that Jaguar be held at Kileleshwa police station for 3 working days to allow investigations.

The magistrate has reduced the application saying that the 14 days detention is unduly long, the detention is set to start from today.

His further detention has been based on the application by the prosecution that if he is let free, he could interfere with witnesses in the case.

Speaking about the decision to detain the Member of Parliament the Magistrate said,

What we are focusing on is whether the applicant has portrayed compelling reasons to hold the respondent in custody for a period of 14 days.

What we are focusing on is whether the applicant has portrayed compelling reasons to hold the respondent in custody for a period of 14 days

Further adding that,

Whether there are reasonable grounds to hold a person in custody without laying down charges considering the fact that he has the right to be freed conditionally or unconditionally.

What I found to be compelling reasons to hold him in custody are 1. Tampering with witnesses

2. The fact that he's an influential individual.

His words below have left him behind bars for their Xenophobic approach.

IF YOU ASSESS OUR MARKETS, UGANDANS AND TANZANIANS HAVE TAKEN OVER OUR BUSINESSES… NOW WE ARE SAYING ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

IF A 24-HOUR ULTIMATUM IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO BE DEPORTED, WE WILL REMOVE THEM AND WE’LL BEAT THEM UP AND WE WILL NOT FEAR ANYONE,” HE WAS FILMED SAYING.
