When it comes to entertainment, in Kenya it has been a pass-time for most rather than a career. But the current generation of musicians have caused quite the paradigm shift as regards entertainment. They have shown the nation that it is a career like any other. And from the look of things, it is going places.

Gone are the days when Kenyans would see their favourite celebrities and rather than celebrate them, we ignore them. Gone are the days when the government looked at Kenyan entertainers as a bother to be tolerated only during public holidays.

Jaguar was recently on holiday after a rather hectic holiday schedule performing all across the country and he was accorded some VIP treatment. There was some noise about the fact online but the way I look at it is thus:

Clearly the entertainment industry is headed in the right direction. Our artists are finally making money and getting that VIP treatment. It's high time Kenyans stop treating politicians like VIPs and treat talent and artistry thus. And perhaps, just perhaps, we will see a much bigger boon for our celebrities.
