The residents had petitioned the government to swing into action and see too it that some of the clubs, learning institutions and churches located in the area are closed.

According to them, the noise emitted by these establishments had become unbearable and they were forced to stay awake all night on most days.

Evelyne Ndirangu - an area resident - said sleeping in her own house had become a difficult task, especially from Friday to Sunday.

She also said that she spent Sh30,000 to put an aluminium window outside the room that is closest to the noise in a bid to minimize it but that didn’t help the situation.

Others recounted how they used blankets, mattresses and duvets to block their windows so that they can get some sleep but their efforts bore no fruit.

After countless pleas, the concerned authorities finally decided to spring into action. They visited the joints and carried away equipment and stock. Some patrons were also arrested.

Reports indicate that some of the affected establishments include Kiza Lounge, B-Club and Space Lounge.
