Catherine Nyokabi was laid to rest at her home in Thegu, Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.

Catherine's life was cut short by her ex-boyfriend Evans Karani who lured her to a deserted area and tortured her to death. Her body was found dumped in a deserted car on a muddy road in Juja.

She had been mutilated, her hair shaved off and Police said she was strangled to death using a blunt object.

Her funeral service was very emotional. One of Catherine's pals, who eulogized her during the funeral said,

"Your good deeds will be in our memories. If we were to award you, we would give you the most luxurious award that you are worthy of. Memories will be crisscrossing our mind and your sweet name Cate will never vanish in our mouth.

She added,

"It takes long to understand this has happened. Our naked eyes will never see you. Our ears will not listen to your sweet voice again. You were so loving and caring, Cate. Your happiness was harmonious and your advice will always be our help."

She finished the tribute by saying,

May the dancing show you the rhythm of heaven, rest in peace.
