Nairobi governor Mike Sonko's daughter Saumu Mbuvi has for the first time revealed that her first break up led her into depression.

She dated businessman-cum-politician Ben Gatu but broke up when she was heavily pregnant with his child.

Taking to her Insta stories, Saumu wrote,

My first relationship I was only 21, young and naive, thinking it would lead to marriage. It totally damaged me and left me on depression pills for a while. The same fear of being judged is what I had until I chose myself and my child's happiness over everything.

After parting ways with Gatu, Saumu later hooked up with another city businessman, the owner of Wakanda Club but the relationship didn't last.

'My second relationship at 23, at least with a bit of experience, anything that involved violence was a no for me. I was stronger and didn't care how many would criticize me, my health and happiness came first and that of my daughter,' she wrote.

Saumu, who is currently doing research on women, the challenges they go through and how they overcome them added that,

I totally understand what women go through. I'm no exception. It's hard and difficult especially in making firm decisions especially when an innocent child is involved. If there's anything you can show your child is how strong and happy you Are.

The governor's daughter is now dating Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip and they're madly in love with each other.

Love knows no religion. It makes us whole. Don't beg to be loved and respected. Seek God's guidance in everything you do the most important weapon is prayer.

Adding,

Being dependant on someone can also lead to lack of respect. Be smart, hustle hard because with your own money no one can disrespect you.
