A section of youths on Monday stormed Ngong road in Nairobi ahead of the beginning of protests called by the opposition.

A spot check by the Star found a handful of youths walking along the now deserted road, just like many other city roads.

However, police officers are around monitoring the situation.

The protest was called by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga to protest high cost of living, among other issues.

Security has been heightened in all access routes to Statehouse in Nairobi, as well as other city roads.
