A promising young soul has gone too soon. Kenyans are mourning the death of football darling Kevin Opiyo Oliech.

He has being ailing for a long time and he lost the battle to cancer on Sunday 16, August 2020, in Germany where he was receiving treatment.

The sports icon did not let cancer stop him from living his life. Based on his social media, Kevin still kept in touch with his pals.

Kris Darlin who is very broken from the sudden death was one of the people who kept in touch with Kevin.

Kevin hosted a watch party for one of Kris Darlin's Live shows on Facebook.

Kevin also shared a YouTube link of Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's visit to the Mama Oliech restaurant back in 2016.

Zuckerberg was in Kenya to meet members of the tech community. He started with a visit at iHub, and on his Facebook page, he spoke of his desire to learn more about mobile money.

He then went for lunch at Mama Oliech Restaurant after it was recommended to him. He was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

This is what he wrote on Facebook.

“I had lunch in Nairobi with Joseph Mucheru, the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Information and Communications. We talked about internet access and his ambitious plans for connecting everyone in Kenya.

We ate at MAMA Oliech Restaurant. — a local place everyone recommended. One of my favorite parts of traveling to a new country is trying the food. I enjoyed ugali and a whole fried tilapia for the first time and loved them both!”

Kevin's last public appearance was a concert in Germany with his pal, David Etale. He posted the video on February 22, 2020.
