An Indian man allegedly killed his elderly mother after he came home to find she hadn’t cooked him chicken curry for lunch.

Bejjam Kishore, 45, bought chicken home on Sunday and gave it to his 80-year-old mother Bejjam Mariamma to prepare, the  reported.

Kishore, an alcoholic, then left his home in Badepuram in the Guntur district of the state of Andhra Pradesh, to go drinking.

He returned home later in an inebriated condition and found the meal was not yet ready.

Then, Kishore, who used to work as a rural medical practitioner, allegedly shouted at his mother and began stabbing her.

His mother reportedly died at the scene and he fled.

Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing the elderly woman’s screams and reported the incident to police.

Officers have begun searching for Kishore.

His wife reportedly left him because of his alcohol addiction and took their children with her.
