Gospel singer Hopekid has come out fellow controversial artiste Willy Paul.
The Jigi Jigi hitmaker has been releasing songs, which many have termed as secular. Hopekid, who is among those who are not with Willy’s latest songs, has advised him to go back to his old ways. To give us meaningful music.
‘Hizi ndio nyimbo za injili? Wacha kutubeba ujinga!’ Kenyans attack Willy Paul after collabo with Nandy
In an interview with Mseto, Hopekid said;
The reason why God alishine the light upon your life is because he saw something in you na aliashine hiyo light ukifanya kazi yake, sio hii kazi ingine. So if you can go back to the first love, sisi kama wakristo utuimbie wimbo ingine kama sitolia tutashukuru sana.
Hio ni kilio ya every Christian. So mimi naambia tu Pozee kindugu ‘Pozee, imba zile NYimbo za Yesu zile zenyewe.
Willy Paul has been featuring secular artiste from Jamaica to Tanzania to Kenya in his songs, leaving his fans confused whether he was still a gospel singer or had gone secular.
Not so long ago, Hopekid advised Willy and Bahati against begging for collabos with Tanzanian artistes and he said;
BE WISE. WHEN TANZANIANS WERE INVADING KENYAN MARKET, THEY DIDN’T NEED ANY KENYAN ARTISTE. SO WHEN WE WANT TO INVADE THEIRS WE WANT TO WORK WITH THEM. WE ARE PLAYING OURSELVES. WE HAVE EVERYTHING IT TAKES.
Hopekid’s sentiments ignited mixed reactions and below are some of the comments;
Ndivyo Ndivo Pozze ako tu sawa ukitaka nyimbo za choir enda kanisani ama ununue cd mtaani zinauzwa kwa bei nafuu
