Even if you fail in class, you can't possibly fail in convincing Hollywood to film you. When looking at an opportunity to make a biopic about controversial Kenyan conservationist Richard Leakey, Silver screen star actress Angelina Jolie never asked for his academic papers to see whether he was qualified to have his story, and his work as a conservationist, make it to the big screen.

She may never have known that Leakey was not bright at school. He wasn't even an average student, but a poor one for that matter. Did you know Leakey was nearly killed when his Cessna 206 plane crashed in Nairobi in June 1993, that sadly led to the amputation of both his lower legs? Do you know he had a liver transplant in 2013? That aside, this man's story is poised to be put in focus by Angelina's hubby Brad Pitt, in the film titled Africa. It might be shot in Kenya by the way.

At school however, Leakey was what one of my Primary School Maths teacher used to call me; "anti-nyita" (The one who doesn't understand anything!) That was an insult, but I bear no grudges.

Dr. Leakey's academic record was so dismal, he left school at 16 years of age, with only a handful of poor O‑level grades!

But the 71-year-old is no normal mortal – and besides, he’ll certainly want to hang around long enough to see Brad Pitt or another of Hollywood’s favorite son's play him, however academically and historically inappropriate that may be.
