A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan, but there is no word for a parent who loses a child. Earlier on this year death robbed the Odinga's family, a star and future leader; Fidel Castro Odinga.

The first born son of Cord leader Raila breathed his last on January 4th at his home in Karen after a night out with pals. Memories of Fidel are still fresh for his family and today, his mother, Ida Odinga penned down an emotional letter to him.

"Fidel Castro Odhiambo Odinga. Obange wuod nyar Gem, 42 years ago today was the happiest day of my life. God had just blessed us with a bouncing baby boy. Today is the first time we celebrate your birthday without you being physically present, but you are ably represented by your son Allay who is a mirror image of you and your wife Lwam. Fondly missed by dad, your sisters Rozzy and Winnie, your brother Raila Junior and Yvonne, your nieces Saphie and Senayi, your entire family and friends. Constantly in our thoughts and forever in our prayers. Until we meet again, Happy birthday, Nind mokwe wuod nyar Gem.
