A family in Vihiga county is mourning the loss of their loved ones who perished in a road accident Kamukuywa Bridge along Webuye - Kitale road.

A 14 seater belonging to Sabatia Sacco, which was heading to Webuye carrying members of the same family is said to have rammed into a tractor carrying sugarcane along the busy highway and rolled severally. The accident which occurred on Monday evening claimed more than ten lives.

Vihiga County Governor Wilberforce Ottichilo has led Kenyans in mourning the departed souls and here are some of the messages of condolences.

"Sad day today for Vihiga County for the loss of 17 members of our community in a grizzly motor accident yesterday evening at Kamukuywa Bridge along Webuye - Kitale road.

My condolences go to the family and friends of our dearly departed and the people of Mahanga, Mungoma ward," read a post on Vihiga governor's Facebook page.
