Popular Benga musician John De Mathew passed on a day like today, a year ago. De Mathew died after his car lost control and rammed into the back of a truck near Blue Post in Thika.

The musician popular for his Kikuyu music hits was pronounced dead at the Thika Nursing Home.

Well, a year later, fellow musicians have joined the family to commemorate his first anniversary in Gatanga.

Ben Githae and other artistes who are Tamco Sacco members are currently at the memorial service that is ongoing.

His close friend Media personality, Njogu has described him as brother he values.

"I will forever cherish our brotherhood. We are still a team.

And I promise to come back to this final house to tell you when the dream we talked about has been achieved. I still love and value you my brother.

Continue resting in peace John."
