Comedian Njoro has revealed that his biggest regret that led to his downfall and eventual debilitating depression stems from drinking and partying excessively.

Njoro was on a US tour where he made around Ksh 1.3m a tour - he had three tours - where he made approximately Ksh 3.9m. The bulk of which was spent partying and frivolous items.

He says a portion of it he sent to his wife and three kids and another to his parents, the excess he squandered on alcohol and parties.

Speaking to Masawe Japanni, Njoro said,

"Nilitumbukiza pesa zote kwa raha, ninajilaumu. I did not think zingeihsa i got int parte after parte i was not going home, yes, I have a wife and three kids. We later broke up because of the partying."

He explained,

"The life I was living you would not live with me. I would leave the house and get back at 5 am, take a bath and leave again. I did not care what the children ate. Also I was violent when I was drunk."

Njoro said when the money was finished he sunk into depression.

"My wife used to hide knives in the house, there was a time I wanted to stab myself, she could not sleep. There was a time I also took rat poison, another time I tried to jump off the escapement."

He added that his eratic behaviour not only affected his wife and kids but also his parents back home in Nakuru. It got so bad that his wife left.

The mother and his brothers decided to take him back home to Nakuru where they could monitor him.

"My wife would always call my parents after I have had an episode and they were very worried for me and I regret putting them through all that."

When Njoro hit rock bottom, all his friends disappeared. At the time, he developed paralysis on his left had, it could not hold or lift anything.

His drinking buddies made fun of his disability.

"There was a time my left hand was paralysed kabisa, captain Otoyo would take me to hospital, I did not know the issue was connected to my depression. my pals who I went to clubs with would laugh at me when I asked them to help me open a bottle."

Njoro told Massawe that his greater regret was that after three US tour where he made approximately Ksh 3.9m he has nothing to show for it. Not a thing.

"I regret that I did not even build, I went to the US tour three times, all that and nothing to show for it. this lead to my depression. I regret the time I got into that fun and partying lifestyle. I wish, i did not know what alcohol is."
