Below is Jeridah's touching tribute to her father.

'Meet my dad. Again. This is the Andayi. He must have been in his 40s in this photo. He died in January 2015. He was just 70. The Biblical 70 years. I spent most of my time in the village with my mum. I saw my dad once in a year, twice if luck struck 😂. He lived and worked in the city. Mum lived in the village and raised the children and tilled the land. Dad would come home over Christmas for a week or so. That week he’d be busy visiting relatives and attending past funerals. When he was home, he’d still be surrounded by people. We started knowing each other after I cleared High school and moved to the city to go to college. Soon after my mum died so we became even closer. In his last days, we were friends. We talked about many things. About life, about us. We talked about my late mum. We talked about his childhood. We laughed and laughed. His belly laughter was infectious. My dad was a storyteller, with a very clear memory. I miss him a lot. He had not told me all his childhood stories. Oh, dad. I still have your number on my phone. You never called me by name. To dad, I am and will forever be; Kukhu. Oh Dad.

We miss your laughter and storytelling. We miss your authority. Dad has said. Period. None of us argued about what ‘dad has said’. You move on. You do what ‘dad has said’ 😂😂😂.We just miss you. I miss you,' she wrote in part.

Jeridah went ahead to advise those whose fathers are still alive to cherish them.

Enjoy moments with your dad. Force him to take photos with you. Take a video of him when he’s not watching. Make memories with your dad. Yes, even if he’s annoying, just make every second with him count. My dad could get so annoying by the way. Then he would call each of us and say that he doesn’t want an expensive coffin when he died and that he doesn’t ever want us to eulogize how he fell sick and we took him to hospital 😂😂😂😂 saa hiyo unajua yuko broke mbaya 😂😂😂... unatuma kakitu halafu anakupigia anakuuliza kama hiyo ni pocket money ama ya kubuy chakula 😂😂😂.
