Legendary Tanzanian singer Saida Karoli of the 'Maria Salome' song has revealed that her life is in danger.

Karoli made a comeback this year with the song Orugambo which went viral saying that her comeback could be the reason why she is being threatened.

Talking to Millard Ayo , Saida said that she received a call and the person told her that they were sent to kill her

'Juzi mtu alinipigia simu, ati 'Mimi nimetumwa nikudhuru na hapo ulipo tayari nimeshafanya mambo yangu.'Akaniambia umeibuka haraka, yaani tulidhani umeanguka na hautanyanyuka tena.Na kitu gani kimekufanya usimame tena kwenye ulimwengu wa muziki? Kitu gani kimekufanya tena wewe uwe shupavu kifanya vitu vyako viwe vya harak hivyo?'

She added:

"Akaniambi  sasa mimi nimeshalipwa na nimeambiwa nikuue nikuondoe duniani."

This call came when the singer was preparing herself to go for a radio interview

"Nilikua najiandaa kwenda kwenye mahojiano redioni. Basi nipo najiandaa nikapigiwa hiyo simu. Kwa kweli hilo swala sio nzuri lakini huwezi ukapendwa na watu wote."

Saida says she and her management had to cancel some of the shows she was going to perform:

"Baadhi ya show tulizokua tumepanga tuzizuru tumezivunja na tukasema ngoja tutulie kwanza tuone ni nini kinachoendelea na hawa wana mikakati gani. Nini mpaka mtu kujitolea akatamka kitu kama hicho?"

Karoli says her brother's death was caused by a strange call where he was threatened with death l and indeed, he was slaughtered.

"Lakini nikaona si geni kwanza.Mimi kaka yangu aliambiwa kitu kama hicho 'bwana tumetumwa tukuue jumatatu na utazikwa jumatano.' Kweli kauawa.Akachinjwa."

She continues to say some of the artistes in Tanzania have been using witchcraft to attract fans.

"Swala la ushirikina liko wazi kwa hivyo ni kila mtu ashike imani yake."

Saida rose to fame and prominence once more after a long hiatus this year. Diamond Platnumz sampled her 'Maria Salome' song that made Saida the toast of town. This gave her even more reasons to make a strong comeback.

One thing to know about her is that she only attended class 1 and dropped out to do music. She got pregnant at the age of 13.
