A story about how Tanzanian women are using tobacco to satisfy themselves sexually has gone viral.

The story, which was aired on BBC, reported how women from Tabora, Tanzania, are applying ground tobacco mixed with cooking oil and soda ash (popularly known as Magadi) on their private parts to stop the urge to have sex.

Tobacco mixed with oil and soda ash; a concoction Tanzanian women are applying on their private parts to stop the urge of having sex

Asha Said, a user of the concoction told BBC:

When I put the tobacco in my privates I feel like I have been with a man. Even if a man makes a move on me, I feel like he’s just a nuisance.

An old woman told me to mix the ground tobacco with soda ash before mixing it with cooking oil. When placed in the privates, the urge to have sex ceases.

The women in the region, including married ones, are using the concoction and many times, they deny their partners their conjugal rights. Asha’s husband during the interview said after his wife denied him sex a couple of times, he decided to find out why. He said he was shocked to find out that she was in possession of tobacco yet none of them uses it.

After questioning her, she revealed what she uses it for:

Whenever I asked her (for sex), she declined. After carrying out my investigations, I found her with tobacco, despite neither of us using the substance.

He continued:

I asked her why she had tobacco yet she did not smoke it but she didn’t respond. After several inquiries, she finally told me what she uses it for.

We decided to find out what Kenyan women use to satisfy themselves sexually when they can’t get a ‘banana’. We took to Instagram to ask Mpasho.co.ke fans their preferences and the responses were crazy.

Many admitted to masturbating, using bananas and even fingers to satisfy the urge.
