A brave young girl by the name Elizabeth Achieng from Kaila Village in Kisumu saved her father from the whiskers of death.

Elizabeth Achieng, 15 yrs told The Standard yesterday that she was in the house when she heard her sister shouting that there is an intruder in the house.

Immediately after her sister had raised alarm about the intruder, their father went to the door and found out the stranger had a gun. As the man pointed the gun at her father, Elizabeth ran and hid behind the open door.

Elizabeth had to think fast to save her father.

In an interview with Standard, she said;

''Like a ghost, I slowly and steadily moved along the wall towards the man, ensuring that he did not see me. I looked at my helpless father lying down  and before they noticed me, I knocked the man's hand  and the gun dropped.''

When the gun fell her father, Jacob Orende woke up picked the gun that was meant to finish him.The stranger disappeared since he was now powerless.

Mr. Orende tried looking for him but to no avail he decided to bury the gun but report the incident to local administration.

However, Elizabeth's courage is admirable she says she got her self defense skills from The Girl Guides Club in her school .

According to the Standard Newspaper she explains why she always has to be brave;

''I Live with my mother  and my father is a long distance truck driver and is rarely at home. My three brothers are in Mombasa and Nairobi. This means I am always  here to play the role of a man. I have never been afraid of going outside the house at night.''

Her father also applauded her bravery, this is what he said about his daughter;

''I did not know she was timing the man. But what I do know about my daughter is that she has always been strong swift and brave. I wouldn't stop her from joining the disciplined forces.''
