A Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student is in hot soup for lying to her parents that she had been kidnapped on Friday night and she needed ransom money ASAP.

Her brother sent her the money, after which she switched off her phone.

In a panic, the family reported the kidnapping to the cops who then swung to action ASAP.

According to police, the student's number was tracked all the way to Thika Road Mall where she was partying hard.

She was in the company of other  KMTC students and her boyfriend.

They were arrested.

Detectives reveal that before the arrest the student had panicked and called her parents saying she had been dropped at Galleria in Karen to dissuade them from reporting the "kidnapping".

The KMTC student still had the Ksh 20,000 in her MPesa account.
