Alloyce, aka Othuol Othuol, puts a smile on our faces whenever he graces the screen. The Churchill show comedian also plays the role of a security guard at Taifa Estate in the popular Auntie Boss TV dramedy.
He is a multitalented comedian but his life journey hasn’t been easy. In an exclusive interview with Mpasho.coke, he said he has lost two loved ones. Whenever he remembers them, he becomes emotional.
I really miss Ayeiya. We were very tight and he was a great friend. I remember I left my phone charger at his place before he died but ni sawa…,’ said emotional Othuol Othuol.
He went ahead to talk about his late mother and he said,
“I wish I saw my mother face to face. She died when I was in class six in 2002 but all along I knew she died when I was still a toddler. I came to know about my mother’s death three years after finishing high school.
Othuol Othuol, whose real name is Ben Maurice Onyango, lived with his father his entire childhood in Siaya before moving to Nairobi in search of greener pastures. Unfortunately, he faced several challenges.
There’s a time I was chased out from my friend’s house in Huruma and went to the streets. Maisha ya Nairobi usiku ni ngumu. Hio usiku ni ndefu. [Life in the streets of Nairobi is tough, the nights are long],’ he narrated.
The comedian was overwhelmed by emotions and couldn’t speak about it anymore.
In 2015, photos of seemingly drunk comedian went viral but he clarified saying that it was stage-managed and that he wasn’t drunk. Othuol admitted that he was once an alcoholic, saying,
I used to be alcoholic and it affects big time. If you are planning to try please don’t try. I lost friends, respect and jobs.
I just made a decision to stop and focus on my life.
It’s two years now since he quit alcohol and hopes to get a job on radio.
Please, Patrick Quarcoo give me a job in your company.
Talking about working at Auntie Boss show he said,
Auntie boss crew are friendly. The producer is a tough one and doesn’t joke when it comes to work. She wants you to love the job the same way you love her money.
