After threatening to quit as a board member of NACADA over what he termed as chronic corruption at the government agency, Jaguar has now revealad that they were offered Sh100 million as a bribe.

NACADA boss John Muthutho has however refuted claims that there is bad blood between him and singer Jaguar.

On Monday, Jaguar - appointed by president Uhuru Kenyatta as a board director at the anti-drug body in April — issued a two-week resignation notice citing massive corruption at the government agency. But speaking separately and exclusively with the Word Is, Mututho admitted that some senior officials at the parastatal were indeed corrupt, but said that he had nothing against Jaguar or his resignation.

“It’s true we have been approached with hefty bribes by some senior Nacada officials. We (himself, Jaguar and other unnamed persons) were to pocket over Sh100 million last week, but we stood firm and said no. Jaguar is not a cheap person, they can’t afford him. Nacada is not a cash cow and soon I will be tabling names of senior individuals who have been engaging in corruption,” he said on phone.

He added that he plans to personally meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and hand him the names before going public.

“I am very happy with Jaguar. I will forward the names to the president before going public on the same,”

Jaguar said, “NACADA has become the black hole where outright corruption and looting of public funds has taken priority. When I reported to the Board, I was informed that the mode of operation is either “you quit or turn a blind eye and be part” of the ongoing massive corruption. Therefore, as a civic duty, I want to state clearly that I won’t be party to the corruption cartels at NACADA.”

According to Jaguar, the chairman of the Finance Committee, Audit Committee and CEO were among other senior officials involved in alleged misappropriation of funds and corruption at the agency.
