A video has surfaced on social media showing a man being roughed up by an angry mob after being caught stealing.

Although it is still not clear what he stole to warrant the punishment that was meted out to him, reports indicate that the incident took place along Tom Mboya Street in Nairobi.

In the video, irate members of the public are seen punching and slapping the man while he begs them to leave him alone saying he is innocent.

At some point, he is pushed to the ground before being kicked and stepped on by the men who were demanding that he returns what he stole.

The efforts of a police office who tried to intervene were thwarted as he was outnumbered by the members of the public.
