Residents of Chebing’ombe in Nyamira County are in shock after a KCSE candidate killed his uncle on Tuesday, November 29 shortly after finishing his exams.

The boy who was a student at Sosera Secondary School reportedly stabbed his uncle with a knife before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s brother, Robert Nyambane, said that they were alerted by a distress call from neighbours who had rushed to help the man as he lay in a pool of blood outside his gate.

He was later taken to hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment for the injuries he had sustained.

Area residents decided to take the law into their own hands after news of the man's passing spread in the village.

According to reports, the villagers chased away the boy's family before torching down their five houses and cutting down the crops in the farms.

The incident was confirmed by Manga Assistant Chief Charles Karaya who warned the locals against taking matters into their own hands.

“Two wrongs do not make a right. Let us learn not to break the law in order to protest another unlawful act by rogue elements,” he said.

Karaya also said that the police had launched investigations into the matter before adding they are pursuing the boy.
