Police in Naivasha are seeking a prominent Mai Mahiu businessman over a series of highway robberies in the last couple of months.
The trader who has gone into hiding has been identified as the mastermind behind robberies along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road targeting trailers headed to Western Kenya.
This came as the suspect’s Probox car was hit and extensively damaged during a botched robbery attempt that saw one woman suspect nabbed.
During the incident, the occupants had tried to block a trailer but the driver refused to stop and rammed head on into the Probox.
In the process, four of the occupants escaped with suspected injuries while the woman was left stranded in the wreck before she was arrested.
The OCPD said that they managed to trace the owner of the car and were seeking him to record a statement over the latest incident.
He said that based on information from the suspect, the trader was behind some of the robberies along the busy highway.
“After we recovered the vehicle, the trader went into hiding but we believe it’s a matter of time before we catch up with him,” he said.
