In recent years we have seen an increase in the death of Kenyan creative’s among them actors and sportsmen.

It’s sad that people who lived life interacting with the crème de la crème of the society struggle with bills when illness strikes.

Truth be told the Kenyan entertainment industry is corrupt and uses creatives like bundles on offer, but on the flip end, most of our creative’s do not invest, they put all their eggs in one basket.

It’s high time they invest in medical covers such as NHIF which is run and managed by the government of Kenya.

There are also private medical covers that one can pay for individually or via the company they are working for.

It’s time to stop blaming society when people do not come out to help us at our hour of need.

Frankly speaking most ‘friends’ do not stick around when problems strike.

Below are things celebs can do to avoid falling into the ‘serikali saidia’ trap.

Create a side hustle

Just because you are good at acting does not mean you cannot engage in another trade.

Always find something to do incase things don’t work out for you. The world owes you nothing.

A side hustle shouldn't just be a plan for when things go wrong, it should be a way to diversify your investments.

Spend wisely

Just because you are a celebrity does not mean you have to spend your money bila mpango. Sit down and budget for everything.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you have money everyone will want to be your friend. But pesa ikiisha you will be all alone.

Get a medical cover

Medical covers have different payment options so you can always choose what works for you and what does not.

You never know it might come in very handy.

Spend time and invest in your family

Although not always, the family will come through for you at your hour of need.

So instead of investing in ‘fake friends, how about building your parents a house or even helping educate your siblings?
