Tano Tena hitmaker Ben Githae has explained how he came up with the song that made him loved and hated in equal measure.

Speaking during an interview with Jalango, Ben narrated,

I was coming from my cousin's ordination in 2011, I was to go to Karen for an event but when I got to Ruiru I saw so many people converged.

I heard that President Uhuru and now Kiambu ex-governor William Kabogo was speaking to people as they were going for a meeting in Thika for a MT Kenyan matatu Sacco.

Among those artists who were to perform was Loise Kim, the late Dematheew Muigai wa Njoroge and the MC was Njogu wa Njoroge.

When Kabogo saw me he thought I was alienating myself from the others so he called me to perform.

Githae says the opportunity to sing was a blessing in disguise,

'When the truck started going I went with them yet I was being awaited upon for a ruracio in Karen.

Njogu wa Njoroge thought I was the prime artiste because I came with President Uhuru yet I had not been invited.

So President Uhuru Kenyatta's kin Catherine Kihanya had me paid as I would not have received the payment since I was a 'gate crasher'.

During that time is when President Uhuru had a case at the Hague so they made my 'Mabataro' song their theme song.

Adding,

'Since that day and in every meeting I had to perform, it went on till they formed TNA. Our journey started till they got to State House.

in 2017 NASA came in and with the songs they were producing I knew Uhuru Kenyatta would go home.

So I went to the studio and recorded the song.

After President Uhuru heard it three days after releasing the song, he officially asked me to join them in their rallies.

I don't regret doing that song,' Concluded Githae.
