He has been in Algeria for the launch of the new diplomatic Kenyan Embassy, following talks with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. The President shared his moments on Facebook, with some of the pictures showing Algiers residents excited to meet him.

"I officially opened the Kenyan Embassy in Algiers, Algeria. Earlier, Prime Minister Sellal and I witnessed the signing of an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports. This is aimed at easing the movement of diplomatic representatives tasked with promoting bilateral relations between our two countries."
