The Kenyan Jazz All Stars Edition of the Safaricom Jazz festival is happening on Sunday 30th April 2017 and it will be nothing short of awesome. Part of the mind-blowing performances will include Jacob Asiyo and Kavutha Mwanzia-Asiyo - the now famous couple that everybody wants to see perform jazz music.

This concert will be in celebration of the International Jazz Day and the Kenyan Edition Safaricom Jazz concert will happen at the Carnivore Grounds.

Oh, and by the way, you need to grab your tickets now because they're limited (the cost is KShs2,000/- for adults and KShs 500/= for students with ID. They are available select Safaricom shops, The Safaricom Michael Joseph Centre or through m-ticketing by dialing 1511)

Right then, let's talk about Kavutha Mwanzia Asiyo, Jacob Asiyo and oh yes, the group Mwai and The Truth.

There is something about Kavutha. I remember her from back in the days of Tusker Project Fame, when she trained the contestants in voice and performance. She is among Kenya’s leading jazz vocalists and has been singing since childhood. This talent eventually led to her study of voice, at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA USA.

Kavutha has been the featured jazz vocalist at various jazz themed events in the East African region. She is also a highly sought after vocal coach. But that is not all. The man in her life makes this a singing family.

Jacob Asiyo will also be performing on Sunday too. He is a multi-faceted musician, a keyboard pioneer, composer, singer and arranger in both jazz and popular mainstream musical genres.

He has been at the fore-front of exposing the Kenyan market to the tradition of jazz with his vast repertoire of Jazz Standards. Comfortable as a soloist, his compositions are a merger of Kenyan melodies & rhythms with complex chordal & rhythmic jazz arrangements. As part of a traditional jazz trio of piano, bass & drums, Jacob performs with his longtime collaborator Stanley Kyaloon bass guitar.

Then there's Mwai and The Truth brand. A captivating group of musicians that comprises a quartet of highly entertaining and skilled performers.

The group is led by Mwai on piano and Tuji on guitar, Caleb on bass and David on the drums.

Enough said. Get your tickets now. They are available at select Safaricom Shops, Safaricom Michael Joseph Centre, and via m-Ticketing by dialing 1511.

Regular tickets are going for only Sh2,000 while students can buy at Sh500 with their student I/Ds. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to funding Ghetto Classics. Gates will open at 12  Noon and the show is set to start at 2:00 PM. See you at #SafaricomJazz this Sunday for #MusicThatMovesYou
