On Saturday August 1, family and friends of Dr Adisa Lugaliki who succumbed to Covid-19 met for the first time at her Nairobi residence to celebrate her.
The 39-year-old mother of twins was the first Kenyan medical practitioner to succumb to Covid-19 on July 10, 2020.
She died while receiving treatment at Aga Khan’s ICU and was laid to rest at her rural home in Ndalu Scheme, Bungoma County.
Family and friends paid glowing tributes to Dr Adisa, who until her death was an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Nairobi South Hospital. The memorial’s dress code was white and gold, which were Dr Adisa’s favourite colours.
Her fiance Fred Mboss, shared a touching post, remembering her as a fun-loving and outgoing woman.
When a beautiful queen rested, the best we could do was to offer her a great send off! We were shattered but quickly regrouped with her friends and decided that would do it her own way and style. Addy lived the life and was glamourous, we were not going to take that away from her,’ he wrote in part.
He revealed that the memorial was one way of helping the young children the medic left behind to heal after the major blow.
‘the twins needed uplifting and what a better way than hearing great tributes from family and friends about their loving, beautiful and amazing mum!’ he added.
