Cases of homicides and domestic violence are on the rise and it's sad considering the fact that children are left motherless in most cases.

In the last few days, we have heard of the gruesome murders of not less than five women with the most noticeable being that of 24 year old Velvine Nungari and Celestine Nduku.

Through 'Usikimie' a platform that fights against domestic violence and sexual abuse different women have shared their experiences at the hands of abusive partners.

The narrations are heartbreaking.

Naomi Angel shared,

I was in an abusive marriage with a mamas boy...

he could beat me, fail to buy us food and fully neglected his responsibilities, he knew the mother would give us food.

He used to drink all his money and come home empty handed then beat me, the mother could tell me you see all the women in the village, no one has a smooth marriage.

Some are even worse than yours n they don't go telling everyone not even their family members know about it, me too I also have problems n no one knows, so vumilia mwanamke ni kuvumilia"

She further added,

One day he chocked me at night after getting into the house at 2am after opening the door I told him "si leo umechelewa" I saw death with my eyes.

I run from that day got back to class, after securing myself with a good job courtesy of my mom, he started threatening me how he'll kill me ati hawezi ngoja mtu amalize shule alafu aende.

Little did I know that he had told everyone amenirudisha shule.

I reported the matter to the police and they told me "hio ni ya familia mtasort na mrudiane" they didn't help me they sent me away, to date I still fear for my life kwa nyumba huingia 5pm na huwa sitembei Peke yangu afadhali ningoje mabeshte.

Liabule Linnate shared her experience saying,

Oh yes. I walked out with my kids after a night of Thorough beating in the presence of my 9yrs and 8 mONths old.

I Am alive because of the decision I made. May she rest in peace.

Women usiogope kuitwa single mother or malaya just because huna bwana. Better kuitwa hivyo than kuitwa marehemu.

Christine Wanjira shared,

I Am getting worried, baba watoto once told me anaweza nidunga visu with my kids, and thought maybe is alcohol.

Then another day on two different occasions akachoma curtain ati he wants me to burn in the house, i am getting worried, he is the kind of a man who has two personalities.

Have you ever dated a physically or emotionally spouse/partner? What made you finally leave?
