Kalamashaka, Deux Vultures, Kleptomaniax, Camp Mulla, and XYZee are some of the Kenya's most famous contemporary music groups to have graced the country's music scenes. But all these are defunct. They collapsed with no hope to come alive again. But this is normal with music groups.

Bon-Eye, Frasha and Gabu came together in 2003 to form the popular genge trio, P-Unit. Since it's formation, the group has chucked two sizzling hot studio albums dubbed Wagenge Hao and Wagenge Hao Tena. Apart from the individual members involving themselves in solo projects, the all-boy rap group is said to be working on it's third album.

The project seems to be well on course after Decimal Records announced the release of the group's latest single titled Hold Tight. The thumpy reggae/ragga song talks about friendship. It's the first single by the popular rap clique after a short hiatus from the music scenes, but the group's statement? "We never really left."

This is what Bon-Eye says:

“Hold Tight is a feel good Genge reggae tune it's about reassuring the industry that #KikundiSerikali is here to stay amidst all the break-up rumours. I took the time to travel, family time, various business ventures, refresh as a creative and look at things from the outside. Also to work on my solo projects that I will disclose details of soon.” -Bon-Eye.

He adds, "The new P Unit brand as I see it, is more of growth rather than re-branding completely. Our fans have grown, we need to keep growing with them and keeping the HITS and Kenyan street culture that P-UNIT continues to be associated with alive. P Unit is here to stay and will always be the bigger brand, strengthened by individuals who make up the trio."
