Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has taken to Facebook to issue a public statement following news that his portrait will appear in businesses all over the town. Joho said that he is waiting for official communication on the matter.

However, he urged the council members to focus on more important issues regarding “progressive legislation that will transform the lives of the residents of “Mombasa.”

Here's his full statement:

“The County Assembly of Mombasa passed a Private Member Motion on the 27th of May 2015, to have the governor’s portrait displayed in all business premises within County.

However, I would like to urge the Members of County Assembly to realign their priorities with progressive legislation that will transform the lives of the residents of Mombasa. I am yet to receive official communication on the matter and will act in the best interest of the people.”
