Grisly road accident leaves Meru tycoon dead

A Meru tycoon died early Tuesday morning when a BMW motor vehicle he was driving stepped on him crashing his chest.

Francis Kiumbe Muriithi had gone to check pressure of the said vehicle at Nation Oil petrol station in Meru town.

According to Meru County Deputy Police Commander Francis Wahome, Muriithi drove his car to the said petrol station at around 1:00am to check tyre pressure and after checking he entered the said vehicle and engaged a reverse gear instead of front gear.

Wahome said Muriithi then accelerated the vehicle and was tossed out by the acceleration force and then this same moving vehicle stepped on him crashing his chest this is according to the CCTV footage police saw at the said petrol station.

The Meru county deputy police commander said that police officers rushed to the scene and took the injured Muriithi to Meru teaching and referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

 “Police have launched investigations on the matter though we are treating it as self-involved accident,” he said.

The body was moved to Meru funeral Home.
