Kenya is a great country full of talented people. From sports to music and the acting industry, the respective players have made us proud and are still taking our nation to greater heights, but as it turns out there may be nothing to celebrate despite all this.

Most of those in the acting industry earn peanuts. They struggle to make ends meet yet while gracing the screen, they always wear that plastic smile just for their fans to believe that all is well. Not so long ago, 'The father of Kenyan Comedy; Mzee Ojwang passed away after spending 40 years in the acting industry. Before his death, Mzee Ojwang was believed to be languishing in poverty and well-wishers came to rescue him when it was too late. The same is happening to Suleiman Mwaronga, popularly referred to as Ba Mkubwa.

The talented comedian, who featured in the famous local TV comedy Tausi, is languishing in poverty despite President Uhuru's promise to set up a fund to help our struggling actors, artistes and sportsmen. Ba Mkubwa, a man who brought laughter into our living-rooms, is now the talk or rather the laughter of the town. How could such a veteran actor be deserted?

It's so sad as the 82-year-old is living in abject poverty. The Ex-KBC actor is headed in the same way as Mzee Ojwang if nothing is done to salvage his sad situation. Who is going to save our legends? Is there need of them investing so much in their career only to end up eating dust while Kenyans, whom they made happy back in the day, ignore their plight?
