Kenyan football has been characterized by hooliganism over the past decades where fanatics caused trouble at football matches. Disorderly behavior has been common amongst football supporters and it doesn’t seem to end any time soon.

A Gor Mahia fan Boaz Okello was sentenced to serve six-months in prison for assaulting a security officer, who was manning a gate at Nyayo Stadium last Sunday during international friendly match between Gor Mahia and Power Dynamos of Zambia.

Okello admitted that on January 1, 2015, he assaulted the complainant  Benjamin Opiyo by hitting him with a metal bar on his forehead for refusing him entry into stadium. Okello was in the company of other individuals, who had planned to force their way into the stadium to cheer K'Ogalo without match tickets.
