Kenyan man Anthony Maina Ng'ang'a, who had a liver problem left many shedding tears back in 2016 after photos showing his deteriorated situation went viral.

Maina developed a liver disease that changed the colour of his eyes to yellow and was forced to undergo treatment in India. He appealed to well wishers who helped him raise funds and he travelled to India where he had a successful liver transplant.

Last weekend, Maina got married to the lover of his life Ruth Muthoni, whom he met in India, where he had gone for treatment. Activist Ndungu Nyoro took to social media to share photos from their nuptials and he wrote;

When Anthony Maina Ng'ang'a made his way to India for liver transplant he was accompanied by his mum. Mama Anti donated the bigger portion of her liver to save her son.

Still in India another young man was set to undergo liver transplant. His sister was the donor. She gave away 67% of her liver to save her brother.

The girl's name was Ruth Muthoni.

As fate would have it, Ruth would watch the progress of her brother and this young Kenyan man who by the virtue of being Kenyans in a foreign land also qualified to be a brother.

And this is how Anti and Ruth became friends.

Months later the two patients had recovered well. Together with their donors and caregivers, they jetted back in the country.

The two families maintained the friendship. Maina and Ruth became more than friends. They have been very supportive of each other.
